How we handle school mail

School mail can include a child’s name, health notes, and family details. You choose what we can see. This page is the same promise we show at sign-up.

Sign-in

Continue with Google is sign-in only (name and email). It does not open your inbox. A magic link is the same: identity, not mailbox access.

If you connect Gmail

Google shows its own permission screen. We request gmail.readonly — read mail. We do not request send, delete, or settings.

We will

Scan From, address, and subject on recent mail so you can pick school senders.
Read the full body of messages from senders you check, to write a brief.
Store a refresh token so the daily brief can run.

We will not

Send, delete, or move mail, or change Gmail settings.
See or store your Google password.
Include mail from a sender you did not check.
Share your Gmail login with a co-parent.

Disconnect in School Brief Settings, and revoke the app in Google Account → Security → Third-party access.

If you forward instead

We never open Gmail, Outlook, or Apple Mail. A private address on in.parent-brief.com receives only what you send there. Unknown addresses are dropped. A co-parent can use the same address without an account.

Apple Mail / iCloud

Mailbox connect for iCloud is not built yet. Until it is, the path that never opens your mailbox is forwarding. When Apple connect exists, it will use the same rule: read-only, senders you pick, no password stored, disconnect anytime.
